Gromit Travels

September 25th, 2005

This morning I stumbled upon a community over on LiveJournal where a woman is sending her Gromit stuffed animal all over the world to get pictures of him everywhere! What a lovely project. You can check out the community here: lj communitygromitstravels. You need an account with Livejournal to participate in Livejournal Communites, signing up is free and ad-free.

More WnG Articles! High Res images at dreamworksfansite.com! 2 new clips!

September 25th, 2005

This week I got an email from both the owner of dreamworksfansite.com and from Daniel Brett letting me know about the high-res images over at dreamworksfansite.com. You can see them for yourself: Wallace and Gromit: Image Gallery. Daniel also emailed me to let me know about the mobile phone content being released, which is futher described in an articles below.

Daniel also found another WnG clip! Over at channel4.com: Watch an exclusive clip, they didn’t say what it was called though. If you are unable to see the clip you can download it directly here (quicktime format). Thanks again Daniel!

I found another one of the exclusive clips this morning! “To Pay or Tupee?” it’s over at moviesonline.ca: Exclusive : Wallace & Gromit Video Clip – if you don’t have the plugin, it can be downloaded directly here (quicktime format)

There is at least one more exclusive clip out there somewhere, if you happen to find the site that it was given to please drop me an email: lyz@princessleia.com

And now to the articles!

Official Press Release – FunMail will work with Aardman to create and distribute ringtones, wallpapers and animated screensavers based on the upcoming feature film “Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.”

Movie Review @ the-trades.com: Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit – The reviewer says “Nick Park has done a wonderful job of making you laugh almost every minute.” Hah! Excellent! And: “It is comforting to know that, despite everybody seemingly try to become more futuristic in their film-making, some people in the movie industry still use old-school methods to entertain us.” I whole-heartedly agree!

New Wallace & Gromit film gets mobile game

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (PS2, Xbox) – First Look – An article about the WnG game for PS2 and Xbox. This article has a few great screenshots of the game.

In stop-action animation, every movement counts – This is a great article about stop-motion films this year, and they talk about WnG. I’m interested in all kinds of stop motion (I am unable to see Corpse Bride this week, but it’s on my list!).

Say ‘ha-ha’ to Wallace & Gromit – This article is about the DVD release of the 3 flims last week. I’m a bit sad to see that this article refers to the release as “merely shameless hype” – I can’t disagree more! It’s the first release of Cracking Contraptions on DVD in the US, and that’s a big thing. The author does go on to say that WnG “are a better comedy team than Abbott and Costello” and the author clearly liked the 3 shorts and is recommending them.

Review: Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit.“If you don’t fall off your chair laughing, you have no sense of humour. Excellent! This is a short article that gives a quick plot summary and ends with “There is so much going on in this delightful movie that you’ll be tempted to see it again to find out what you missed.” – I don’t doubt it!

ATM:AD Campaign for first Wallace & Gromit Full Length Feature – Appparently WnG will be the first feature film to employ the powers of ATM (yes, cash machines) advertising to promote their film in the UK. I’m not a big fan of advertising everywhere, but it’s worth mentioning anyway.

I’m going to try and set aside some time this week to get more pictures up in the pictures from the movie section, but we’ll see.

Chud.com excluxive clip from the film! And US DVD release

The flim clips are scattered all over the web, but I’ll find them all eventually 😉 The latest is from Chud.com: The Mind-Manipulation-O-Matic Clip. Thanks to Daniel Brett for dropping me an email letting me know about this!

Also in the news, the release of Wallace & Gromit in Three Amazing Adventures is today! This is the three shorts released again – plus Cracking Contraptions for the first time in the US! Very exciting.

On a related note, there is a DVD giveaway contest for this DVD over on dreamworksfansite.com: online giveaway of the ‘Wallace and Gromit: Three Amazing Adventures’ DVD. 3 DVDs will be given away through this – so get your entries in. Another clip from the flim!

September 20th, 2005

You can hop on over to the Movie Vault for Wallace and Gromit at movieweb.com for a link to their exclusive clip “Dog Fight” – a really great clip, you get to see a cutest big fluffy were-rabbit in action! And there is an explosion! *glee* Thanks to Jordan Bellamy over in the UK for letting me know about this clip!

And in case you missed it in the last article, there was a clip on the comingsoon.net page I linked for “The Bun-Vac 6000”

More WnG Articles – North American Premiere! and Clips!

September 17th, 2005

I’ve been horrendously busy this week, so yet again I’m posting a bunch of links to news articles about WnG from this week, but first I have to thank Brian Zoromski, the Editor-in-Chief over at IGN FilmForce for letting me know about a clip and a making of short for the WnG movie. I can’t believe I hadn’t seen these. You can check them out over at IGN: Exclusive Video: Wallace and Gromit. There is also a great gallery over there, which I highly recommend.

You can also check out several clips//makings of/trailers/teasers at this site: ComingSoon.net: Wallace & Gromit – The Curse of the Were-Rabbit

A few of these articles have to do with the film’s Premeire at the Toronto Film Festival. There are several great reviews too.

Several WnG Articles

September 12th, 2005

The news is just pouring in, I can’t keep up! Rather than making an entry for each news article that I’ve come across in just these past few days I’m going to give you links to a bunch now.

Wallace and Gromit Take a Meeting – 2 page NYT article (may need to log in) that reviews some of WnG’s past, and gets into the movie. My favorite bits are where Nick says “Cheese isn’t sexy.” and that he “had the idea in a pub in Bristol” when asked about were-rabbits.

Moviehole.com: Interview : Nick Park – A great article and interview with Nick Park. He plays with toys 🙂

Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit Preview – In depth Preview of the WnG game, aimed for a US release on September 27th. A somewhat negative review, but if gives some great game details.

Cheese to make big stink on movie – A cute article about a Gloucestershire cheese that “stars” in the movie. I especially love the “We’re limited for space. We’ve got two people making the cheese. If we get another one, where will we park the car?” line

Cracking rumour Gromit… has Wallace deserted Wensleydale? – Another cheese article, shorter, and lets us know that “Cheeses may come and go… but Wensleydale is forever.”

WnG Press releases from CardewClub.com – They’re selling some amazing teapots and other kitchen items. I instantly fell in love with the teapot below! The toast rack is a close second

WnG Van Teapot

There are also tons of “fall preview” articles out there that include the WnG movie, probably the only one worth mentioning is this one: Nobody beats the wiz which has a longer blurb about it than most do, and the “You might have to be in the cult to appreciate it.” comment made me laugh.

WnG Movie Premiered in Sydney on Sunday

September 7th, 2005

The World Premiere of the WnG film occurred in Australia this past Sunday.

Heavy rain could not keep eager young fans away from the world premiere of “Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit” in Sydney on Sunday.

The cheering crowd descended on Luna Park as director Nick Park introduced his claymation feature for the first time

gromit collapse at sydney premiere

A giant inflatable Gromit that collapsed in the wind could have been a troubling sign. So could two security staff using night-vision goggles to watch for movie pirates.

But the world premiere of the first movie featuring the much-loved animated characters Wallace and Gromit proved to be what the eccentric, cheese-loving inventor would call “a cracking day” in Sydney yesterday. There was even free cheese.

And the night-vision goggles did not reveal any illegal filming.

His latest, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, is opening three weeks earlier in Australia than in the United States and four weeks ahead of Britain to catch the school holiday audience.

“Australians have always been very receptive to Wallace and Gromit,” Park said. “I think it’s the love of things that are slightly offbeat and a bit quirky.”

Park was surprised by the England-like weather, which led to the collapse of the giant inflatable Gromit as the audience arrived. “I actually didn’t think it rained in Australia,” he said.

While the were-rabbit was too frightening for a handful of very young film-goers, the movie has the same inventive comic charm as the shorts. With entertaining spoofs of King Kong and other classic horror movies, it promises to be “gouda news” for cinemas during the holidays.

So the release date in Australia is even earlier than ours, it opens nationwide there on September 15th.

WnG Comic to be released September 29th!

September 3rd, 2005

On September 29th (my birthday!) the leading publisher of graphic novels in the UK, Titan Books, will be releasing the first Wallace and Gromit comic!

Following the success of Chicken Run, the Oscar¨-winning Aardman Studios now present their first feature-length Wallace & Gromit Movie, Curse of the Were-rabbit (out 14 October!)! And to coincide with this massive launch, we are delighted to announce the launch of the Wallace & Gromit Comic!

Every four weeks, Wallace & Gromit’s crazy comic strip capers will bring you madcap inventions, amazing adventures and a whole host of new loveable characters!

Us US fans can’t order it directly from the site, but I’ll take a look around the web to see if we have other options.

Varèse Sarabande to release WnG Movie Soundtrack

August 31st, 2005

Composed by Julian Nott, the Wallace and Gromit soundtrack will be released by Varèse Sarabande.

Julian Nott’s original score for Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit, the Hollywood full length feature starring the beloved dog and his cheese-eating master, will be released on CD by Varèse Sarabande. The score, produced by Hans Zimmer, is written for orchestra and choir and combines elements of Nott’s music for the original shorts and influences of modern Hollywood style movie music. The CD will be released on 11 October.

WnG Anti-Pesto van touring the UK

August 28th, 2005

Perhaps the worst part of being an American WnG fan is that I don’t know about things like this latest news tidbit – a group called “the International Austin A30/A35 Register (IAR)” has created a real life version of the Anti-Pesto van, which is an Austin A35. I learned about this via an email from one of the men who thought up the idea, Mark Armé:

Thought that you might be interested to know that there is an official Wallace & Gromit promotional van on the streets of the UK – the only one in the World. It is an original Austin A35 van and a perfect replica of the van seen in the film. It is the result of an exclusive collaboration between Aardman Animation and Flying-A.net, which is home to the International Austin A30/A35 Register.

That’s so cool!

You can see pictures of the original van and it’s transformation on the IAR website: http://wallaceandgromit.flying-a.net/
